I'm giving overall 4 stars even though there are a few drawbacks. Video quality(color) is not that great, night view is much better than the day view. can't check the battery status. The power adapter cable got a capacitor at the end where the camera is plugged to, minimize the portability. Sound quality is good but volume is too low. Overall i like this product. Its better to buy video monitor rather than an audio monitor, gives u peace of mind.

I'm a new mother to a 5 month old and this monitor has totally saved my sanity. I go through some pretty intense bouts of anxiety so I worry a lot, about a lot of things. Becoming a new mother obviously made this worse. When she started sleeping through the night, most parents become relieved because now they can get some real sleep. This didn't happen for me. Even though I had a standard audio baby monitor, I still found myself waking several times throughout the night to go in and check on her. I just couldn't relax. The audio monitor didn't help me because as long as she was sound asleep, I had no idea what was going in the room. My overactive imagination would think some pretty horrible things and I'd panic until I'd check on her.
As she got a little older and got closer to rolling over, I worried even more because I was terrified she'd roll over in her sleep and lay on her face. Everyone thought I was being paranoid as usual, but I couldn't help worrying. When she did start rolling over, my fear actually came true. Around the 2nd night after she started rolling over consistently, I woke at 1am and went to check on her. There she was, sound asleep on her belly with her face pressed completely against the mattress. I had no idea how long she'd been in that position (as I always make sure she falls asleep on her back), but I quickly rolled her onto her back again. She was fine, and remained asleep, but this just intensified my fear. What if I hadn't woken up at that moment? What if I'd decided to stay in bed and not check on her?
My other issue is because I am waking so frequently to check on her, I wake myself up more by having to get out of bed, turn the hall light on, and peek in her room. I finally realized I needed to look into a video monitor. When I was pregnant, I thought "these monitors are just a way for new parents to spend more money and it's ridiculous". But now I see why they're actually so worth it.
Oddly enough right after I ordered this monitor, my audio monitor died. I was livid as i'd only had it a few months. I did a lot of research and after reading so many bad reviews for video monitors that had interference with the neighbors' monitors I knew I had to go digital. This was the only one available through amazon, and even though it didn't have any reviews, I had to give it a shot. I'm so glad I did.
I was able to use it immediately after taking it out of the package, and I was super impressed with its design and its quality. The camera sits very nicely on the edge of the crib, but came with a crib mount bracket if needed which I loved. Both the camera and the handheld monitor have adapters, which was a huge relief. The picture quality is pretty decent. The color quality is a little washed out when it's daylight, but I don't really care about that. If I can see her clearly, I wouldn't care if it was a black and white image. The night vision is amazing. I can see her very clearly and it almost looks like there's a spotlight on her; that's how well I can see her. I have the camera on the crib though, so I don't know how the picture would be if the camera were farther away. I love the standby mode feature which allows me to see her when I need to rather than have the video going the whole time.
My only complaint is the audio feature. The audio only kicks on when she makes a loud enough sound, then it will stay on for a minute or two, and then shut off again. It's finicky as it will turn on if a loud car goes by or if the air conditioning turns on, but she could be babbling to herself (pretty loudly) and it will stay silent. I don't like this because with my old audio monitor I could hear almost everything, and I knew she was awake even if she was cooing to herself. I wish they had made this feature with the option to leave the sound on all the time.
Overall I'm very satisfied with it. Now I don't have to get out of bed as often. When I wake up, I just click a button and can see her. Twice I've had to get up because she was rolled on her face again, which is only more proof this was a good investment. But I'm sleeping much better knowing I don't need to fully wake up each time I want to check on her.
